Phil started offically training Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu at the Aiea assocation of Relson's Ran by Sam Mahi, Chris & Mike Onzuka and their assistant instructors. He started competing while in the Marine Corps and met Master Relson Gracie and has been a Champion on Master Reslon's competition team since 1997.

He has been lucky enough to train with some of the best fighters in the World & at some of the best schools on the planet. He is a full time fighter & Martial Artist. The best way to judge his skill is to look at the achievements of his students in tournaments, they are beating Black Belt Champions in competion and winning the highest level of competition in the world. They are also in great shape and able to easily defend themselves. His Bio shows his current record. He is still a active competitor in order to strive to find and battle test the most effective, current & usable techniques.

 

Richard Giberson - Black Belt

The Head Judo & Wrestling coach.Richard Giberson is Phil Cardella's second student in Texas and his ranking & training has been with the tough standard of Master Relson Gracie. He is Texas States ex-head wrestling coach, and is at the Black belt level with his Judo. Richard has trained private lessons with every single guest Instructor brought to our Academy & is a great example on & off the mats. He assists with teaching the Austin Police Department, and helped train each of the Professional Athletes from the academy for every professional tournament we have done and has been an instrumental part of training the competition team. He holds a Black Belt under Relson.

 

Donald Park - Black Belt

Donald Park is a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu black belt and a long-time representative of Royler Gracie and David Adiv. Donald began his training in 1998 and has been fortunate to train with some of the best jiu-jitsu instructors in the world, including Helio Gracie and many members of his family (Royler, Rickson, Relson, Royce, Robin, Rorion, Renzo, etc.).

An active competitor, Donald has competed for the RGDA (www.rgda.org) and Gracie Humaitá teams in numerous professional and amateur tournaments around the world. With over 150 competition victories to his credit, Donald is a 2009 Pan American Champion and a 2006 Arnolds / Gracie Worlds Brown Belt Open Weight champion.

Donald has spent a considerable amount of time training in Brazil to further his understanding of Jiu-Jitsu and has traveled to Japan, Hawaii and other locales as part of Royler Gracie's NHB training team. As an RGDA instructor and representative, Donald also founded the Evolution Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy (www.evolutionjj.com) where he counted among his students two Mundials / World Championships medalists, a Pan-American and Abu Dhabi Submission Wrestling Championships medalist, two UFC veterans and a former Olympian.

Donald remains dedicated as a student and teacher of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and as a recent addition to the Austin area, considers himself fortunate to be able to train alongside Phil Cardella and his highly regarded team.

 

Christina Thomas - Brown Belt

Christina Thomas, academy co-owner, is a 2 stripe Brown Belt under Master Relson Gracie and Black Belt Phil Cardella. She is an active competitor in both amateur and professional grappling competitions. She instructs the women only Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu class which started in September 2003. She holds several wins since her start with Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in November 2001. She has competed in Brazil, Hawaii , and the Mainland USA.

Christina is also a Level I Certified M.A.C.P. under Level III Phil Cardella
